Adam Gase’s ‘intense’ eyes steal Jets press conference

Adam Gase set a record Monday. No, not for clichés, but the new Jets head coach must have set a mark for the time it took to become a New York sports meme.

His intense eyes went viral on Twitter, becoming the subject of thousands of social media jokes. A Twitter account, Adam Gase’s Eyes, was launched after the uncomfortable introductory press conference in which he could be seen scanning the room, shifting his gaze every few seconds to a different corner. Gase will most likely never see any of his memed moments, though.

Cameron Wolfe, who covered Gase’s Dolphins for ESPN, clarified it is not health-related — Gase was probably just nervous.

“I’ve got four texts about Adam Gase’s eyes during his 15-min NYJ pressers,” he tweeted. “Those are normal. He’s an intense guy, but he’ll probably be more relaxed in less formal settings.”
