Todd Bowles finds a home on new-look Buccaneers staff

Todd Bowles wasn’t unemployed for long.

The recently fired ex-Jets coach agreed to a deal to join Bruce Arians’ staff with the Buccaneers as the defensive coordinator role. Bowles worked under Arians in the same role with the Cardinals in 2013-14.

Bowles finished his four-year tenure as Jets head coach with a 24-40 record, including a 14-34 mark over his final three seasons.

Arians was out of coaching for a season, working as an analyst for CBS Sports. A two-time coach of the year with a background coaching quarterbacks, he stepped down as the Arizona head coach after a five-year run that saw him post a 49-30-1 record. He previously worked with Bucs GM Jason Licht on the Cardinals, and has familiarity with Tampa QB Jameis Winston, an attendee of Arians’ youth football camp.
