Colts’ hot streak won’t carry them past Cowboys

Dave Tuley, senior reporter at VSiN, joins The Post’s Bettor’s Guide for the 2018 NFL season. His handicapping pieces appear in VSiN’s online magazine, Point Spread Weekly.

Cowboys (+3) over COLTS: The Colts, winners of six of their past seven, are hot (except for that inexplicable 6-0 loss at Jacksonville), but the Cowboys have won five straight, and the most encouraging thing (besides the 13-10 upset of the Saints) is the fact they started their run with road wins at Philadelphia and Atlanta. The Cowboys’ offense is clicking by feeding Ezekiel Elliott the ball while Amari Cooper has given Dak Prescott a deep target to stretch defenses. Add in a Dallas pass rush that can do the same things Jacksonville did to Andrew Luck two weeks ago, and I believe the wrong team is favored.

Dolphins (+7) over VIKINGS: Everyone has been focusing on the “Miami Miracle” and Bill Belichick’s lack of game management last week, but the Dolphins traded scores with the Patriots all game long and were outgained by just nine yards despite running 30 fewer plays! And don’t forget that was a week after these Vikings were outgained by those same Patriots by 193 yards in a 24-10 loss. There’s no way the Vikings (6-6-1 SU, 6-6-1 ATS) should be favored by this much over the Dolphins (7-6 SU, 8-5 ATS). Take the points, and Miami is also worth a shot at +260 on the money line.
