The Wildcat returns for his 22nd season in The Post. Including the 1997-2017 seasons in the Bettor’s Guide, Cat’s record in print stands at 595-498 (54.4 percent) against the spread.
Sunday
STEELERS (-3¹/₂) over Chargers: Pittsburgh got careless with the football at Mile High last week (losing the turnover battle, bigly), and befell the same fate which greets so many visiting gridiron gladiators. ’Twas bad news for those who liked them — but good news for us, since the Steelers have rolled to glory off a loss in their past half-dozen tries in the role. Projected game-time temps in the low 50s represent huge break for visitor that’s on 7-1 W-L run (accumulated mostly against lesser lights), enjoying reasonably good health and benefiting from a career year out of QB Philip Rivers. Bolts RB Melvin Gordon’s MCL issues seal this deal. Steelers assert superior physicality, for one unit.
PATRIOTS (-5¹/₂) over Vikings: The Wildcat is hardly shocked that the Bolts — and these Minnesotans — both got bet down this week, given each outfit’s recent historical effectiveness catching points. Think the bulk of the value on both pups has been minimized, leaving chalk players the best of it. Like Bill Belichick, Mike Zimmer is a terrific coach, and he’ll need all of his guile — marching into Gillette Stadium to face Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Rob Gronkowski and some guy named Brady. Pats remain ahead of Steelers in AFC seeding battle, for one unit.
Last week: 1-1
Season: 12-14
