According to Yahoo.com, two-year-old Addie Cook has died from injuries sustained when a man performed what was labeled as a ‘Batista Bomb’, a wrestling move which used to be performed regularly in WWE, on the child. Police say Cook was suffering from seizures when EMS arrived at her home on May 16th in Jefferson County, Missouri, and “obvious” signs of trauma were shown in her condition.
Richard Gamache Jr, 24, has been booked for abuse and neglect of a child, and although Gamache has denied consistent abuse of the child, he did admit that she might have sustained injuries and seizures as a result of her head hitting a concrete wall after a “wrestling move” was performed by Gamache.
The mother of the child, Cheyenne Cook, 19, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police claim that Cheyenne has been aware of the continued abuse by Gamache, but failed to do anything about it over the fear of losing custody of Addie.
Included in the Yahoo article is the following statement from WWE on Cook’s death:
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic death and hope that the guilty parties are brought to justice. There is no excuse or justification for the brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 2-year-old child by a grown man. This is a clear case of criminal intent and a lack of parental supervision.”
