The Buccaneers see a future that includes Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston’s career with the Buccaneers appears headed for another chapter.

According to ESPN, Tampa Bay intends for Wintson to be their starting quarterback again next season after an up-and-down campaign that saw him reclaim the job from Ryan Fitzpatrick after losing it midseason.

Winston is due $20 million next year and the Buccaneers (5-10) are not sure they can get anyone better than the 24-year-old Winston, according to the report.

Winston, the No. 1 overall pick in 2015, started nine games this season – missing the first three because of a suspension stemming from allegations of sexual assault against an Uber driver. He lost the starting job after Week 8 and took back from Fitzpatrick in Week 12. Winston has started the six games since. He has thrown for 2,647 yards, 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 10 games coming into Sunday’s season finale against the Falcons.

If he does eventually re-sign with the Buccaneers, he will be the first quarterback drafted by the franchise to do so.
