Will Ospreay: “I’ve Got Respect For Rollins”

The WWE Universal Champion and the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion recently got into a very public spat on Twitter. Will Ospreay spoke with Sports Illustrated to clarify his side of the war of words with Universal Champ Seth Rollins. The Aerial Assassin said that his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship is “a little bit more prestigious” than Rollins’s WWE Universal Championship. Ospreay also compared their matches in 2019.

“More power to him, good luck, but my string of matches from this year alone has a lot of people talking about what I can do, and I’ll focus on that instead of what Seth Rollins is doing on social media.”

The Jr. Heavyweight Champion also took umbrage with the way Rollins went about arguing with him.

“He put out there, ‘Find me anyone alive that does the same schedule that I do and performs at the same quality.’ I just said, ‘I’m alive.’

“Yeah, you’re on the road for 300 days a year, sorry I’m not–I’m doing 250. His response was to say, ‘Little guy.’ I’m the same bloody height as you. Then he said he has Ricochet, a better version of me. Why is he involving someone else? Ricochet is the man, and he’s one of the best at this style. But why get him involved? This is between me and you. I feel like Rollins has respect for me and I’ve got respect for Rollins, and I’d love to have a match with him one day, but right now, that’s not my vision.”

Seth Rollins recently defended the Universal Championship in Singapore, while Ospreay is preparing to be the first NJPW wrestler to compete in the New Japan Cup, Best of Super Juniors & G1 Climax tournaments in the same calendar year.
