Kareem Hunt removed from EA Sports’ ‘Madden NFL 19’

Digital Kareem Hunt has now been cut, too.

‘Madden NFL 19’ maker EA Sports told CNN that the former Kansas City Chiefs running back was removed from the video game and replaced with a generic player who will have the same ratings and attributes.

“The updates have fully gone through now so Hunt has been removed from the game and players who were using him for Ultimate Team have their replacement player,” Brad Hilderbrand, an EA Sports spokesperson, said via email to CNN.

Hunt was released by the Chiefs on Nov. 30 after a video showed the rusher pushing and kicking a woman during a February altercation in Cleveland. No arrests were made and he has not been charged, though the NFL and local law enforcement are investigating the issue. Video of more incidents involving Hunt have surfaced in the days since.

Removing a player from the Madden series is not an unprecedented move, with former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice being taken out of the 2014 version after he was arrested for striking and knocking out his then-fiancee in a New Jersey hotel.
