The Jets may not be done adding coaches who were replaced this offseason.
ESPN.com reports that soon-to-be head coach Adam Gase is considering Gregg Williams for defensive coordinator. NFL.com reported that Vance Joseph is also up for the position.
Williams was the interim coach of the Browns after they fired Hue Jackson mid-season and went 5-3, however, the offense’s revival got much of the credit for the turnaround and interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens earned the full-time coaching job in Cleveland. Williams has long been a controversial name in the sport for his role in the Saints’ Bountygate scandal, which led to a year-long suspension.
Joseph, who is still in consideration for the Bengals’ head-coaching job, was fired by the Broncos after two seasons and an 11-21 record.
Both Williams and Joseph would add a veteran defensive voice to Gase’s staff with the Jets’ new head coach coming from an offensive background.
