Although the initial talk was that WWE was looking to promote a “mixed tag-team” match with The Rock and Ronda Rousey challenging Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, it looks as though WWE has different plans for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is actually hoping to book a straight singles match between Rousey and McMahon for next year’s WrestleMania 32 event at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
WWE has reportedly wanted to do the Rousey-McMahon match since Rousey attended their SummerSlam event in 2014 and helped Stephanie with her “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.”
Obviously there are many factors that need to be worked out for something like this to happen, which has left many within WWE to assume that the more likely scenario would be The Rock vs. Triple H in a singles match at WrestleMania 32, with Rousey and McMahon in their respective corners. The feeling is that is something UFC might actually approve, and would still give WWE the ability to promote a big Rousey happening at their biggest show of the year.
