Another High-Profile NJPW Talent Leaving Company, Injury & Retirement News

In addition to Kenny Omega, who as noted, is rumored to be leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for WWE or AEW, another high-profile talent appears to be on the way out of NJPW.

At a NJPW press conference it was announced that KUSHIDA will be leaving the company at the end of his current contract, which is scheduled to expire on January 31st.

“I am contracted with this company until the end of January so I won’t be talking much about beyond then,” KUSHIDA said. “But it has been my dream for a long time to travel the world with professional wrestling. And that’s what I will be doing.”

KUSHIDA continued, “I increasingly took on the role lately of working with younger talent, and while not teaching, learning together. Along with that, going back and forth between ROH and New Japan I realized I am now 36 and have much less in front of me career wise than behind.”

Additionally, Takashi Iizuka announced a retirement ceremony for February 21st, and it was revealed that Kota Ibushia will be taking off the next tour to recover from the concussion he suffered during his match with Will Ospreay at the recent Wrestle Kingdom 13 show at the Tokyo Dome.
