Having Roger Federer back in Perth is unreal: Hopman Cup TD

In an interview to TAB Radio in Perth, the Tournament Director commented on how it felt like to have back, for the third year in a row.

Federer has already had some full days in Western Australia visiting the Pinnacles on Thursday and having a free open practice session on the Hopman Cup Centre Court with the former world no. 3 David Ferrer in front of 1,500 people on Friday.

Kilderry said: It is always great to see them land. You know they are here safely and can get down to business. We chased him for years and it was really tough to get him here. We really sold him on the event and what an amazing time his family would have in Perth.

We had golf lessons for the kids, swimming lessons, tennis lessons, piano lessons, you name it. They were literally doing everything. He was at Rottnest one day, he was in the Swan Valley the next, going off on his own with his family and they absolutely loved it.

It is unreal to have him. Federer will begin his Hopman Cup title defence with Belinda Bencic against Brits Cameron Norrie and Katie Swan on Saturday. Kilderry was also amazed at looking at Federer being welcomed by so many fans: If you sort of walk with him it just doesnt stop, said Kilderry.
