ATP Pune: India's Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan make sure title stays home

Indias Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan have won the 2019 Tata Open Maharashtra doubles title. The Indian duo delivered a great performance when it mattered most as they saw off Great Britains Luke Bambridge and Jonny OMara in the Pune final 6-3 6-4.

No break points were seen until the seventh game of the first set — when the British duo failed to convert its first break point chance of the match. Bambridge and OMara failed the price for not coneverting their break point as top seeds Bopanna and Sharan broke the Britons in the eighth game to take a 5-3 lead before they served out for the opener in the following game.

The Indians were 1-2 down in the second set when they broke twice Bambridge and OMara in a row to open a comfortable 5-2 lead. Yet, the Britons refused to give as they got one break back in the eighth game and then served out in the ninth game to reduce the deficit to 5-4.

However, the top-seeded duo kept its focus when serving for the match second time as they sealed the win in just over an hour of play. Bopanna and Sharan won 78 percent of their first serve points and converted 3-of-4 of their break point chances.

Bopanna and Sharan were playing at an ATP event together for the first time this week. Meanwhile, Bambridge and OMara fell just short of winning their third ATP doubles team title. Full results: <table
