Gophers welcome Jordon Rothers, Judson Preskitt, and Chris Pfarr

Under the direction of head coach J Robinson, the Minnesota Wrestling program has announced three additions to for the 2013-14 competitive season. Jordon Rothers, Judson Preskitt, and Chris Pfarr have all been signed to the roster during the late signing period.
“We are always looking for the right kinds of kids and these three are some of the best,” said Head Assistant Coach Brandon Eggum. “We are excited to have them join Minnesota Wrestling.”
A native of Murdock, Minn., Jordon Rothers joins the Minnesota program after excelling as part of the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School wrestling team, the same program that produced current Gopher and two-time All-American Kevin Steinhaus. Rothers has made his mark among the Minnesota wrestling community. He has qualified for the Minnesota State Tournament all four years of high school and earned second-place finishes in both 2012 and 2013. Rothers has also made a name for himself in the USA Wrestling circuit. Rothers has picked up two MN/USA Wrestling State titles (2011 Freestyle and 2012 Greco-Roman) and four second-place finishes (2010 FR and GR, 2011 GR, and 2012 FS). He qualified for USA Wrestling Junior Nationals in both style brackets in 2011 and 2012.
Judson Preskitt joins the Gophers from Wyoming Seminary in Forty Fort, Pa., after transferring from Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, Texas for his senior year. Originally hailing from Forney, Texas, Preskitt competed for the Blue Knights, winning the Doc Buchanan Invitational and Pennsylvania Prep States while competing at 126 lbs. In 2013, he finished second at the National Prep Wrestling Championships, losing a 5-4 decision in the finals to Jack Mutchnik of St. Paul’s (Md.). In 2012 he picked up a sixth-place finish at the Beast of the East competition and was tabbed as the Walsh Ironman runner-up.
Chris Pfarr comes from LeSueur, Minn. to join his older brother, current freshman Brett, on the roster. As a senior at LeSueur-Henderson High School, Pfarr competed at the 152 lb. weight class. Notable performances included an undefeated run at the Waconia Wildcat Duals as a junior where he was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the meet and a sixth-place podium at the 2012 Minnesota State Tournament. As a senior, he put together a 35-3 record heading into the 2013 tournament and carried through to a third-place finish. Pfarr has also made waves in academia, boasting a 4.1 GPA in the classroom.
“They are great kids and great students,” added Assistant Coach Luke Becker. “They work hard and are going to fit right into the Minnesota Wrestling program.”
