More on HoHo Lun’s Release, NXT to Have an ‘ROH’ Faction?
Earlier today, it was revealed that WWE Performance Center trainee HoHo Lun was released from his contract. WrestlingInc first broke the news that he had actually been released from the company several days ago, but we now have more details surrounding his release. Lun was a competitor in the Crusierweight Classic tournament last year and he was signed by WWE not long after the show concluded. Lun has made a few appearances on NXT television since then. Lun was said to be liked by members of the Performance Center, and he was thought to be brought into the company to help mentor and learn alongside Chinese recruits.
Despite this, he was released from WWE, but he was not fired from the company. Contrary to recent reports of Lun being the first cut of many expected roster cuts due to WWE’s recent cutbacks, Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned that Lun actually requested to be released from his WWE contract. It appears as though the former CWC competitor requested his release to deal with some issues that are currently ongoing within his family. A representative from WWE stated “WWE has granted HoHo Lun’s request to be released for personal reasons.” Despite Lun deciding to leave WWE by choice, the company is still reportedly scheduled to release certain talents soon.
WWE has been signing a ton of top Ring of Honor talent this year. Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish both recently made their NXT debuts, and stars such as Donovan Dijak and Adam Cole are rumored to be joining the NXT brand any day now. PWInsider has reported that this is no coincidence, and that WWE may actually be working on creating a new faction composed entirely of former ROH talents. Now, AllWrestlingNews reminds us that the faction could be created as a villainous faction that will run roughshod on the rest of the NXT roster. More former ROH stars are rumored to be debuting on NXT very soon, so there may definitely be some truth to this rumor.
