WWE NXT TakeOver Unstoppable results & live coverage: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn, surprise debut

They did an angle where Hideo Itami was injured in the parking lot. They announced he suffered a torn rotator cuff.
TYLER BREEZE VS. FINN BALOR
Balor won what was really a very ordinary match with the double foot stomp off the top. It was a basic match, except for Balor kicking out of the beauty shot, and Balor doing a plancha off the top of the stage, which looked to be about six plus feet high, as it was slightly higher than Breeze’s head. So Balor is the No. 1 contender and will challenge for the championship shortly.
They showed Stephanie McMahon in the audience
EMMA & DANA BROOKE VS. CHARLOTTE & BAYLEY
Match was fine. Brooke is green but didn’t do anything wrong. A short basic match ending when Charlotte used the Natural Selection on Emma while Bayley gave Brooke the Belly to Bayley. Emma changed her look a little, new outfit, new hairstyle.
They showed Uhaa Nation in the stands and the crowd started chanting Uhaa.
RHYNO VS. BARON CORBIN
Corbin won with the end of days when Rhyno went for the gore and Corbin clotheslined him. A better match than you’d expect because Rhyno had great intensity and except for one hiccup, Corbin did fine with him. It was the type of match Corbin should be doing, going longer and getting more ring time.
Kevin Owens interview backstage. Owens said I had three successful title defenses and Monday night I dropped John Cena where he stood for trying to take credit for the injury I caused Sami Zayn. I showed this was the real prize by stepping on the U.S. title. Fans cheered him for saying that and chanted “NXT.” He told Sami not to show up, because if he does, it’s the last time anyone will see Sami Zayn.
BLAKE & MURPHY VS. ENZO AMORE & COLIN CASSADY FOR TAG TITLES
Okay match. Everything is being kept short, probably to leave time for the last two matches. Enzo & Cass set up their rocket launcher finish when Alexa Bliss came out and turned heel, attacking Carmella. This distracted Cassady. He went out of the ring and Murphy superkicked him. Enzo was on the top rope and Bliss pulled Enzo’s legs, so he crotched himself and fell into the ring where Blake pinned him. Blake, Murphy and Bliss celebrated together.
SASHA BANKS VS. BECKY LYNCH FOR WOMEN’S TITLE
Great performance by both women. Banks won with the divorce court off the top rope and the crossface (bank statement) for the submission. This would have easily been the second best match on Sundays show, and you can make a case it was even better than the main event. Both worked over the others arms. Lynch did a Gotch lift into a back suplex. When Banks did a tope, Lynch kind of caught her and slammed Bans into the ring steps. The crowd sang Lynch’s theme song for her after her loss. Great post-match facial reactions to losing by Lynch. Just a really well done championship match.
KEVIN OWENS VS SAMI ZAYN FOR THE NXT TITLE
They had a really good match going out fast, and at about 7:00, Owens power bombed Zayn on the apron. They played it up like Zan’s shoulder went out and the match basically ended at that point. Owens kept attacking Zayn while the refs tried to stop him. Finally William Regal came in and tried to stop him. Owens continued to attack Zayn and Regal pulled him off by ripping his nose. But Owens head-butted Regal out of the ring and kept attacking until Samoa Joe came out. The two went face-to-face. For that audience, Joe was this huge superstar and they went crazy at the face-off, and of course, Owens backed down and left. It looks pretty clear that the Zayn injury is serious and this was to write him out. The Owens-Joe thing worked big-time.
From what I gather, Joe right now has a Rhyno-like deal in the sense he’s still working indies but will also work some NXT dates.
