Jeff Hardy is as popular now as he ever has been in his entire wrestling career. Hardy has joined the Smackdown roster and is currently the United States Champion, and he has already had a couple of successful title defenses. Hardy defended his title once again right before this week’s edition of Smackdown went on the air. According to a report from Wrestling Inc., Hardy put his title on the line in a dark match during last night’s show in the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. “The Charismatic Enigma” was able to defeat Shelton Benjamin in order to retain the US Championship in his home state in a match before Smackdown went live on the USA Network.
It had previously been announced that NWA Champion Nick Aldis would be competing against Cody Rhodes at the latter’s huge All In independent wrestling event later this year. However, both men have been teasing that the match will instead be a title unification match with the ROH and NWA world titles on the line. However, in order to do that, Rhodes will need to win the ROH World Championship from current titleholder Dalton Castle. According to a report from Cageside Seats, Rhodes will likely be winning the title from Castle at ROH’s upcoming Best in the World pay-per-view before he faces Aldis at All In this September. Cody takes on Castle and Marty Scurll in a Triple Threat match for the title at Best in the World on June 29th.
An interesting and unexpected name from the past just made his return to Impact Wrestling during the promotion’s recent television tapings. Eddie Kingston, who previously competed in Impact as a member of the Death Crew Council before he left late last year, came back as a member of LAX. A new report has just updated fans on Kingston’s sudden return to the promotion and if the wrestler plans on sticking around for a while. According to PWInsider, Eddie Kingston has actually not signed a full-time contract to return to Impact Wrestling at the moment. For the foreseeable future, Kingston will likely continue to appear and compete for Impact on a per appearance deal.
