Mixed Match Challenge Results (11/13): Season 2, Episode 9

Pre-Show: 

Tonight’s Mixed Match Challenge Pre-Show opens up with Vic Joseph & Kayla Braxton welcoming us to the show. They start off by recapping last week’s matches. They then preview and discuss tonight’s matches. The Pre-Show comes to a close. 

Main Show: 

Tonight’s episode of Mixed Match Challenge opens up with Michael Cole, Renee Young & Vic Joseph welcoming us to the show. We head right to the ring for the first match of the night and it is Monster Eclipse vs. Country Dominance.

Monster Eclipse (Braun Strowman & Ember Moon) vs. Country Dominance (Bobby Lashley & Mickie James): Ember and Mickie face off first while Strowman gets the crowd pumped up. Back and forth action as Ember looks for a backslide. James turns it into an abdominal stretch. Backstage, we see Paige talking to Charlotte Flair and telling her that AJ Styles isn’t in the right frame of mind for tonight’s match, which means that Charlotte Flair will be getting a new partner. Back in the ring, double clotheslines take down both women. Strowman ends up tagging in and he has a face off with Lashley. Strowman yells a bit and ends up shoving Lashley back into the corner, with more yelling. Lashley shoves Strowman into the corner himself. They collide in the middle of the ring, but neither go down. Lashley with a kick to the midsection and he stuns the big man. Strowman with a big kick that drops Lashley. Lio Rush with a distraction. Lashley takes advantage and tries for a suplex, but Lashley is the one who goes up and down. Ember chases after Rush, but Mickie lands a dropkick from the apron. Strowman chases Rush and takes out Lashley. Back in the ring, Ember recovers and hits the eclipse for the pinfall victory. Winners: Monster Eclipse (Braun Strowman & Ember Moon)

We are informed that the Winners of this year’s Mixed Match Challenge will get The 30th spot in this year’s Men & Women’s Royal Rumble Matches.

We are then informed that next week it will be Bobby Roode & Natalya vs. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox.

We head backstage where Bobby Roode & Natalya talk about how things haven’t worked out with them so far, but next week they will get their first win.

We head to another area backstage where Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox argue about who will be the captain next week and get their first win.

We are informed that Jeff Hardy will be replacing AJ Styles on tonight’s episode of Mixed Match Challenge.

Awe-Ska (The Miz & Asuka) vs. Jeff Hardy & Charlotte Flair: Miz and Jeff get things started with Miz taunting his opponent a bit with some “Delete” chants. Hardy sends Miz from turnbuckle to turnbuckle. Hardy with a kick, then tries for a twist of fate on The Miz and The Miz backs away. Asuka wants in against Charlotte. The two battle for offense. They trade wrist-locks. Charlotte takes Asuka down, but Asuka looks for an Asuka Lock early on. Charlotte with an arm drag. Asuka with one of her own and they end with a double dropkick. Leg kick by Asuka. Charlotte ends up on the apron. Miz charges her and gets a big boot. Asuka with a hip attack, sending Charlotte to the floor. Asuka follows and tosses Charlotte back into the ring. Asuka goes for a low kick, but doesn’t get it. Charlotte with a pin, but only gets a two count. Hardy is tagged in and Miz gets dropped almost immediately. Hardy with a side russian leg sweep, then goes for a pin, but only gets a two count. Hardy looks for twist of fate again, but still doesn’t get it. Hardy hits the whisper in the wind, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Hardy with an enziguri, sending Miz to the corner. Hardy looks for another kick, but The Miz counters. The Miz hits a skull crushing finale, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. The Miz with a DDT, then goes for a pin and Charlotte breaks things up. Asuka in, boot to the face and dumps Charlotte out to the ring. The Miz with a swing and miss on Hardy and almost hits Asuka. The Miz with a roll-up. Asuka nails Hardy, but he’s able to still kick out. Miz looks for his finisher, but doesn’t get it. Asuka tags in, then hits a spinning heel kick on Charlotte. The Miz and Asuka with duel “it” kicks. The Miz tries for a last one, but misses and Hardy hits a twist of fate. Charlotte with a spear followed by a figure-eight in the middle of the ring and Asuka taps out. This is the first time The Miz & Asuka have lost in The Mixed Match Challenge. Winners: Jeff Hardy & Charlotte Flair

We are informed that next week it will be R-Truth & Carmella vs. Rusev & Lana.

We are also reminded that next week it will be Bobby Roode & Natalya vs. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox.

Rusev & Lana cut a promo on R-Truth & Carmella, who also cut a promo on them. They made it perfectly clear that it will be a win or go home situation next week. Mixed Match Challenge goes off the air.
