Emmys Winners 2019: The Complete List

The 2019 Emmy Awards kicked off on Sunday, September 22, honoring primetime television’s most outstanding dramas, comedies, reality competitions, limited series and more.

While the show decided to take after this year’s Oscars and go host-less, Homer Simpson did open the show, only to suddenly have a cartoon piano fall on him. Anthony Anderson of “black-ish” paired up with Bryan Cranston to kick off the show and add some comedic relief.

This year all eyes were on “Game of Thrones,” which led the pack with a record-breaking 32 total nominations. The HBO favorite fantasy series took home 12 Emmys in total, including Best Drama Series for the fourth time at the 71st Primetime Emmys.

The cast members of the HBO blockbuster, including Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington and Gwendoline Christie, were honored with a tribute onstage, earning them a standing ovation from the entire audience when they presented the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, which Patricia Arquette won.

The Amazon comedy show, “Fleabag,” also won top prizes of the evening, including Best Comedy Series for a second year in a row and two Emmys for Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Most notably, the writer and star of the show won Best Actress in a comedy, beating “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan, who were both heavily-favored to win the award. Waller-Bridge also won Best Writing for a Comedy Series.

Amazon Prime original “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” had overwhelming success in the comedy categories this year. Alex Borstein won Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for the second year in a row, while Tony Shalhoub took home the Emmy for Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.
