Japan’s bars warned to get the beers in amid fears stocks will run dry during Rugby World Cup
On the eve of the opening game of the Rugby World Cup, Japanese bars are taking delivery of additional stocks of beer to quench fans’ thirst – but seasoned operators fear that some may still run dry.
Japan takes on Russia in the opening game of the tournament in Tokyo on Friday evening and organisers anticipate that more than 400,000 foreign fans will watch the 20 teams playing at 12 stadiums around the country.
England play two days later, taking on Tonga in Sapporo while the final will be held in Yokohama on November 2.

As early as May, bar and restaurant operators in a number of host cities were warned by the organising committee that they would need to ensure that plenty of beer was available…
