Roger Federer: 'We, as players, hope the Hopman Cup will survive'

the in Perth again. The Swiss started his season there thrice in a row but the event is set to disappear in 2020. Asked if the amazing championship point won by him and Belinda Bencic over Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber could help the event to stay on the tennis calendar, Federer replied: I dont think it really needed a moment or a rally like this at the Hopman Cup, my magic with Serena (Williams), with Angie and Belinda playing or top players like me and Zverev playing here also, its great advertising for tennis here in Perth and also for the Hopman Cup.

So we as players hope that the Hopman Cup will survive, that Perth see great tennis in the future so if this kind of a match or atmosphere is helpful I am all for it. I will support Perth and this city to keep having great quality tennis, because I think thats important.

They have done an amazing job here, the players are super welcome and the crowds deserves it of course. Federer also commented on how his team helps him to have a perfect scenario of the situation he finds in: I can analyze very well with my age my own matches and my own feelings and I have two great coaches – two of the best in the game who give me their fair assessment and I have a fitness coach who tells me if I am moving well or not – and they are all open towards me, so I dont want any sugar and coating, I want real and straight so I always know where I am at and that is at latest the day after and not six months after so its very clear in my team where I stand and I am happy where I am right now.

I am in a great position. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
