New American Davis Cup Team Captain Mardy Fish claims he has landed a dream job. The United States Tennis Association announced Fish as the new American Davis Cup captain this past Tuesday. The United States were left without a Davis Cup captain after Jim Courier stepped down from the position in September after eight years of captaincy.
Courier won two Davis Cup titles with the United States as a player but failed to win a Davis Cup title as a captain. The pressure will be on former world No. 7 Fish to lead the United States to Davis Cup success.
A dream job for me….

Fish fell just short of winning a Davis Cup in 2004 as the United States ended runners-up that year. The new Davis Cup format is set to debut this year as 18 nations will be battling in the Davis Cup Finals event in November.
The United States wont have to play Februarys Davis Cup qualifying round as they have already secured a place for the Finals event.
Ive spoken with all the players already….last night…they are all excited about the format…a World Cup of Tennis….I think it is going to be awesome, personally – Mardy Fish on U.S.
