Serena Williams can still win big titles, says John McEnroe
In an interview to Eurosport, the seven-time Grand Slam winner commented on chances to win the Australian Open. McEnroe believes that Williams feels very motivated ahead of the tournament in Melbourne.
I think the reason she still plays is that she is the favourite and she can still win the big titles, she wants to win the big Grand Slams and break the records, said McEnroe. She hasnt played since the US Open, but she played Hopman Cup, she looked good, looked in good form.
She is one of the top favourites, though there arent the top favourites on the womens side like there is on the mens. I dont think anyone will dominate. But I think she is one of perhaps, three players, that I think will win the title.
I think there will be various winners like last year. The top is very close, there isnt a dominant figure that we know is going to win all of the time. [Simona] Halep is one, Kerber is two and there are so many players close behind that it is just so open.
