In a recent interview, commented on his brother Andy possibly playing his last Australian Open in career. Jamie cheered for the three-time Grand Slam singles winner during the whole first round five-set loss to Roberto Bautista Agut on Monday.
It was obviously a difficult week for Andy and for the family, but he had a great match the other night, admitted Jamie. There was a great atmosphere, great reception from the crowd. The support that he got from start to finish was incredible.
If it is his last Australian Open then thats a great way for him to finish and Im sure hell be more than happy with that. Andy seems uncertain about whether ending his career or continuing to play maybe after another surgery.
Does Jamie see his brother competing again? For me, I just hope that, whatever happens, he can get back to just regular life, pain-free, and be able to enjoy himself and not be in constant pain. If hes able to come back and play tennis, if thats what he wants to do, then Im sure hell give it everything he can.
Jamie also hinted Andy wanted to play on the big stage once again in order to prove he is a fighting character: If he doesnt come back, then they want to give him and send off and show their appreciation for what he has done.
