Five Killed As Furious Gunman Opens Fire At America’s Oldest Newspaper House

“Words are a journalist’s weapons”. Perhaps, the power of words for Mass construction is being coerced into Mass destruction. An angry gunman opened fire on America’s oldest newspaper, ‘The Capital Gazette’ on June 29 in Annapolis, Maryland killing at least five people, reported Reuters.

The Capital is a daily newspaper published for the readers of Annapolis since 1884 and its sister newspaper, ‘The Gazette’ dates back to the 18th century.

This is not the first time an attack has been made on a popular media house. However, the previous attacks such as the tragic ‘Charlie Hebdo’ satirical weekly newspaper shooting in 2015 as well as the recent killing of Shujaat Bukhari, the editor of ‘Rising Kashmir’ magazine were carried out due to conflicts of interests related to the content ofthe publication.
