Natural calamities may leave people vulnerable but that is the time when real heroes emerge as saviours for the sufferers. The current flood in Kerala also saw some selfless people, who, without caring for their money and life, chose to serve the humanity first. Such people deserve outrightrespect and admiration for remaining hope for the society. Kerala is battling an unprecedented flood situation with red alert declared across 11 outof 14 districts for heavy to very heavy rainfalls in the next couple of days. Across central and northern districts there have been widespread floods, landslides and loss of human lives and property.
Idukki, the worst affected district saw the widespread damage for life and property, due to the landslide and floods. Amid all the sufferings, the actions of some real heroes on the ground have helped to bring some positivity to an otherwise grim situation.

NDRF Personnel Kanhaiya Kumar
It was an unbelievable sight. A man running across the Cheruthoni river with a child in his hand as the bridge was about to be submerged by flood water which was released from the Cheruthoni Dam. Kanhaiya Kumar, an NDRF personnel from Bihar who was deployed in Idukki for the rescue mission was the man running across the bridge. He was carrying a child who had to be shifted to hospital with high fever.
