Novak Djokovic to be the man to beat at most of the Slams – Rusedski

The former Wimbledon semifinalist sees as a favorite in most of the Grand Slams this year. The Serb heads into the Australian Open with a 14-match winning streak at Major level, having last lost to Marco Cecchinato in the French Open quarter-finals.

Speaking to Metro, Rusedski said: I think its been a fascinating tale of two halves in 2018. Djokovic kind of said Im back when he won Wimbledon. Then finishing world No. 1 for the fifth year so hes the man to beat in 2019.

The interesting thing is during this best part in the last six months, the three guys hes lost to is Tsitsipas in Toronto, Khachanov in Paris and Zverev [in London]. So these are the three guys that we think are standing out at the moment.

And then youve got Coric in there as well as Kyle Edmund as well to put in the mix as five youngsters. I think Novak will be the man to beat at most of the Slams, French Open is probably Rafa with his health. On potential and improvements, Rusedski added: Zverev with Lendl is the most exciting combination of the youngsters right now.

The way he played in that final [at the ATP Finals] was the way he should be playing. When in the off season with Ivan hes going to be playing better. He hasnt performed at the majors the way that hed like but winning his biggest title at the end of this season was the perfect climax.
