In A First, Owners Of Cows Straying On Roads In Gujarat Get Three Months’ Jail

Most of us have seen cows chilling on Indian roads like a boss. Such cattle end up causing traffic jams and inconvenience to pedestrians too. Taking note of such instances, a local court in Vadodara, Gujarat, two cattle-rearers were sentenced to three months in jail for letting out their bovines free on public road posing danger to commuters, the Times of India reported. A court of additional sessions judge M K Chauhan convicted cattle owners Alpesh Rabari and Hitesh Rabari and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

The indicent dates back to July 2017 when a team of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) had found around 25 to 30 cows on the middle of the road between Tulsidham crossroads and Jupiter crossroads. The duo was booked at the Manjalpur police station.
