Thiem's coach praises Paul Annacone for work done with Federer, Sampras

In an interview to Tennis Magazin, coach praised former coach . The American worked with the Swiss player from 2010 to 2013, helping him to win the 2012 Wimbledon title defeating Andy Murray in a four-set final.

Paul Annacone is a great coach for me. Whether he coached Pete Sampras, Tim Henman or Roger Federer, he was always there when his players enjoyed big successes, said Bresnik. But he probably would be struggling or will not have any interest to teach a kid or a teenager.

Instead I like to teach a five-year-old hitting the ball 20 times and make him train with 50 kids. Teaching a 12-year-old the backhand is a good thing to be a good coach. The movement of an old or little guy are different.

You have to find a lot of new exercises that often work for the best players. Of course the passion is important. At the age of 56 years, I still like a lot my job. I like watching Dominic on court, but I am also happy when Ernests Gulbis finally wins a match at Wimbledon after a long time.

Asked if other coaches ask him for suggestions, Bresnik replied: A few weeks ago I held a coaching meeting in Vienna. He told me that one of his athletes did not like a shot that he suggested him to hit and what he should have done about it.

I replied that he had to fix it himself and not make him do what he wanted. Someone who starts working for money can just fail. My success is just about the fact that I was and I am curious and I worked as a coach every day from morning to night.

Not only I made some nice money. When I was learning, I had a good teacher, Bob Brett, that described our job in a very good way: a good coach for him was someone who cared about a players success. If some other built it, that was not good.
