Not only is Amanda Seyfried an incredible actress, the star uses her spotlight to advocate for shelter pets in need. Seyfried, who rescued her beloved Australian Shepherd, Finn, back in 2009, has always been an activist for pet rescue and adoption. The inseparable pair is frequently spotted together around New York City, and Seyfried’s Instagram is a fan favorite, as she uses the platform to not only post adorable photos of Finn, but to share other pets looking for their “furever” homes.

“I’ve always been a champion of pet adoption and I’m so inspired by the work of Best Friends Animal Society, an organization near and dear to me that specifically focuses on finding animals their forever homes,” the 30-year-old animal lover told InStyle.

The star stopped by Today this morning, June 28, to announce her involvement with Best Friends and their launch of a new program designed to save more furry friends in need. “As part of this year’s Strut Your Mutt, we launched the #9000Steps Challenge to signify the almost 9,000 animals killed every day in shelters simply because there isn’t enough space. I hope the video Finn and I created helps to raise awareness around a real issue that I am truly passionate about.”
