In an interview to Nine Channel the seven-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe commented on the upcoming third round match between Rafael Nadal and Alex De Minaur at the Australian Open on Friday. McEnroe praised De Minaurs potential.
(I have) Lot of respect for De Minaur. Very similar to his new coach Lleyton Hewitt. The good thing is hes 19. The body bounces back quicker than it would for Federer. He seems to be superman. The fact that he had to go five sets with the qualifier and Rafa who hasnt played much and won easily and likes to make matches physical.
The question is how will he feel. He hasnt played a tournament since the US Open. Will the body betray him like it did yesterday. Alex De Minaur is coming along for sure top 10 player to me. Possible multiple Grand Slam winner if he can fill out a bit more.
For this match, given whats happened it will be a tall order to bounce back and give what it takes. We know hell give 100%. To beat Rafa you need 120%.
