At least, according to Fashion Week Daily. The 1.4 million square foot
area, located on W.33rd Street, was built in 1912 by McKim, Mead & White
and was designated a landmark in 1966.
Although the news has yet to be confirmed, late last year it was announced
that the fashion event had to look for a new venue. New York Fashion Week
has largely taken place at the Lincoln Center since 2010, but after a New
York state judge ruled that it disrupts an adjacent park the event was
forced to look for another location.
Apart from landing a new location, New York Fashion Week is also looking
for a new sponsor. The event’s main sponsor, Mercedes-Benz previously
revealed that this season’s fashion week was the last event it would be
sponsoring, following a five-year partnership with New York Fashion Week.
