These days there are lots of opportunities for an emerging designer to compete with the big guys. Besides Fashion Fringes and Vauxhall Fashion Scout in the UK, Fashion Designers’ and Craft makers’ (FDC) is scouting for new talent during New York Fashion Week. The Big Apple is calling out to all budding fashion designers to enter the FDC Young Designer Awards now.
Young fashion creatives who love to design have the chance to show at the international catwalk of New York. The FDC Young Designer Awards is offering the winner to present his or her collection at the International Designer Show to fashion buyers, retailers, socialites, celebrities, and members of the national and international press.
This event received many media impressions, television coverage each year in US, Europe, Japan, and over another 32 countries. The winning designer will receive an appearance in one show and all things needed such as stylists, models, fittings, hair and make-up, dressers, front of house and show production.
The brief of this year is ‘Homage to a Fashion Leader’. The designer must choose a leading fashion icon as inspiration for their garment. Selected designers include Alberta Ferretti, Basso & Brook, Marc Jacobs, Mathew Williams and Sonia Rykiel to name but a few.
The FDC Awards are supported by the organisers of Caribbean Fashion Week and has a partnership with Barnardo’s.
