Tottenham will host Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday in a crucial Premier League game, with both sides looking to edge out a win though will also potentially find difficulty getting back into the groove following the two-week international break.

The home side started their season strongly with three wins, including an emphatic 3-0 victory over Manchester United, though hit a stumbling block after losing to Watford 2-1 just before the break.

Jurgen Klopp’s side remain top of the table with four wins out of four, and will look to extend their winning streak to five games – though there were issues of disjointedness and lack of attacking cohesion in recent games against Leicester and Brighton.

Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris will both be unavailable to face the Reds at home , with the England midfielder having sustained a hamstring injury during the international break and the French shot-stopper sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring issue.

Juan Foyth and Moussa Sissoko are both expected to return to training soon.

South Korea star Heung-min Son has also returned from the Asian Games in Indonesia where helped his national side win gold, prompting him to be exempt from military service – though issues will be raised about his fatigue and match fitness.

Saturday’s game will be a heated affair in which the North London side will be eager to put an end to Klopp’s winning streak in the Premier League.

Star forward Harry Kane, who is expected to receive the armband in the absence of shot-stopper Lloris, will be extra-motivated to net against the Reds as he looks to usurp Mohamed Salah to the Golden Boot this season after losing out to the Egyptian in the most recent campaign.

Salah has struck twice in the Premier League so far in four appearances, and will also be looking to fend off Kane and win a consecutive Golden Boot title.

Despite Liverpool opening their league campaign with a 4-0 win against West Ham on opening day, Klopp’s side have struggled to replicate the lethal attacking display that they were associated with last season in recent fixtures.

Liverpool conceded their first and only goal of the season in the most recent win against Leicester City that was due to a stark blunder by new arrival Alisson , who clumsily mishandled the ball through dribbling in the danger area before promptly losing out. Klopp rued the mistake and Alisson will be careful not to repeat such an error with the likes of Kane and Son always sniffing around the goal area.

The Reds lost 4-1 in the same fixture last season and will be keen to learn from their mistakes, though they are a new-look side since that fateful trip to Wembley a year ago – with Van Dijk credited with rehauling and smoothening out defensive issues.
