Brazilian young star Thiago Wild earns Sao Paulo wild card for second time

A year ago, Wild lost in the qualifying round in Rio while earning a wild card for the main draw in Sao Paulo where he fell in the opening round to a veteran Carlos Bercloq in three sets. After receiving an invitation, Thiago said this is a special tournament for him after making his ATP debut there 12 months ago, believing he played well against Berlocq despite not scoring a win.

Now, being one year older and enjoying a great season behind him, Thiago will try to clinch the first good result on the main Tour and this is the best tournament to do so, with no top-40 players entering the draw. The Brazilian is currently ranked 449th, playing in two Futures finals in 2018 and winning one title, also adding two Challenger wins in Campinas where he played in the quarters.

Wild is currently the fourth youngest player in the top-450 behind Rudolf Molleker, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Nicola Kuhn.
