Australian Open – Wednesday Schedule: Roger Federer by day, Nadal at night

will play in the day session on Wednesday at the Australian Open. The Swiss will face for the third time in career, having previously prevailed at 2016 Wimbledon and 2017 Hopman Cup in Perth always in straight sets.

The meeting dated back to Hopman Cup is not an official one as that event does not belong to the ATP Tour, but it was very special as it marked Federers comeback to the competition after nearly a six-month break. Interviewed by SRF, Federers coach said: Evans is a player which can be dangerous if one acts too passive, hes got a good hand, but at the end we want Roger to dictate the game and the players to adjust themselves, so no need to discuss to much about the opponent.

Prior to Federer, it will be Sloane Stephens and Timea Babos to open the schedule, followed by Ashleigh Barty against Qiang Wang. At night, Angelique Kerber will face Beatriz Haddad Maia, followed by Rafael Nadal against Matthew Ebden.

The Spaniard delivered some good tennis against James Duckworth in the first round, and he wants to continue his good run. On the Margaret Court Arena Kiki Bertens and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will open the schedule, followed by Kevin Anderson and Frances Tiafoe, the defending champion Caroline Wozniacki and Johanma Larsson.

At night the local hero Alex De Minaur will face Henri Laaksonen, then Maria Sharapova faces Rebecca Peterson. <table
