Serena Williams' US Open reaction to Ramos was human, says Smith

The Nine9 believes that legacy in tennis will not change after the US Open final controversy that featured the American player arguing with the chair umpire Carlos Ramos.

Smith believes that Serena needs to be understood by people. Weve all lost our rag havent we, we just dont do it in public, said Smith. She hasnt said anything about it and I dont think shes going to.

Its time to move on from the at, start of a New Year, shes one of the greatest sportspeople in the world right now and has been for a couple of decades. So at the big events you want to be on the showcourts and if I had a ticket today I would want to see Serena.

I would actually buy a ticket, if I couldnt get on the court Id go and buy myself a ticket. Serena defeated Tatjana Maria 6-0 6-2 in the first round, which was a little bit surprising for Smith who had predicted a tougher match for the 23-time Major winner: Tatjana Maria has a very awkward game, lots of spins and slices, which is not easy to get a rhythm.

But Serenas got great memories, shes won the title seven times. When she was here two years ago she was lifting the trophy. Shell be nervous, I dont expect a perfect performance at all, maybe a little scruffy, but the crowd I think shell get a big reaction from the crowd, its great to see her back, they love their champions here and well see how she goes.
