Hilarious photo shows first day of school ‘taking toll’ on little girl

T.G.I.F. — am I right?

A hilarious photo of a Scottish school girl from the village of Neilston has gone viral after her mother, Julian Falconer, posted images on Facebook of her 5-year-old daughter’s first day of school.

Lucie was on her way to Neilston Primary School in a pristine uniform — a button-down tucked into a mid-length skirt, with knee-high socks, a cardigan and smart striped tie, complete with a matching bow atop her neatly brushed hair. Her proud mama snapped a picture of the excited new student with a big grin on her face.

But Lucie — nicknamed “wee madame” by her mom — returned with a completely altered demeanor.

“When I went to pick her up from school and saw how she looked, I was mortified,” Falconer told Barrhead News, from a suburb outside of Glasgow, Scotland. “When she was getting her bag out the car and walking towards me, I took the picture.”

In the photo, Lucie is shown looking like she’s been through the proverbial wringer — hair unkempt, loosened tie and socks falling down her legs.

“She had her skirt round her ankles almost and a bow at the back of her hair,” Mom told Metro, who said her clothes are perhaps a bit oversized and difficult to maintain.

“I asked her what she had been doing at school,” Falconer added, “and she said ‘Oh nothing, I just played with my friends.’ ”

Falconer says when her husband later asked how Lucie’s first day had been, she told him, “You won’t believe the state she’s in.”

Mom says she thinks normally “shy” Lucie was just “pleased to see her friends.” Otherwise, Falconer says her youngest of four “is just like any typical child.”

One thing’s for sure: It’s definitely relatable. Lucie’s story has seen over 6,000 shares and more than 12,000 likes. “We can’t believe it has gone viral,” Mom said.
