Scotland not taking advantage of my success annoys me, says Andy Murray

criticized the Scotland Tennis Federation for not taking advantage of his and his brother success to make tennis popularity increase in the country building courts and inspiring more kids to play tennis.

Does it annoy me? Yeah, admitted the three-time Grand Slam winner, who enjoyed a stellar 2016 season winning Wimbledon and becoming world No. 1 for the first time in his career. Murray achieved also other great things like 2013 Wimbledon, 2012 US Open and two Olympic gold medals.

Maybe its something I should have given more thought to while I was playing, but I never felt that was my job to do that. It is a little bit disappointing. I dont understand how in the last eight to 10 years that participation is dropping, I dont get it.

Murray added: I think the thing that is more concerning, from my understanding, is that participation is dropping. I know in Scotland that there have not been many indoor courts built in the last 10 years. That seems madness.

I dont understand why that is. You need to get kids playing, you need to have the facilities that allow them to do that and I am not sure Britain has really capitalised on the last seven or eight years of success that weve had really.

Im not sure how much weve done there. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
