Rockdale Pancake House Opens: 'That Gravy Is Delicious. We'll Be Back'

ROCKDALE — While the legendary Syl’s Restaurant remains closed and empty for more than a year and a half, there is a new restaurant that just opened down the street, one that’s aiming to attract a different crowd. It’s called the Rockdale Pancake House, and it opened last week at 400 Moen Avenue.

The Rockdale Pancake House is open every day of the week from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The restaurant offers dine-in and carryout orders.

One woman named Ginger alerted Brian Bessler’s Facebook group, the Joliet Area Bar & Restaurant Guide, that she ate at the Rockdale Pancake House over the weekend and found the staff to be friendly, and the wait staff was quick to refill her coffee.

Ginger let everyone know that she ate the corned beef hash skillet and her companion ate the country fried steak and eggs. “That gravy is delicious,” she proclaimed.

Lastly, Ginger informed the Joliet restaurant group Facebook page that Rockdale Pancake House does not charge a credit card fee or debit card fee.
