2) Distraction is the major cause of road accidents
Avoid using mobile phones, stay alert and focus on the road when driving.
3) Never drink and drive
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a crime, and taking on wheels in any intoxicated state can lead to judgment errors and mishaps.
4) Always respect speed limit
Follow the speed limit and drive safely. Excess speed can lead to accidents or attract fines from traffic authorities.
5) Never jump a traffic signal
Jumping a traffic signal or red light might lead to a crash with other commuters. It is a strict traffic violation that can lead to severe consequences.
6) Maintain your car
One must always maintain and take good care of their car. An ill-maintained car can be troublesome for both of you.
7) Avoid road rage
Safely change lanes, gradually slow down or even exit the highway to keep a safe distance from the aggressive driver. Don’t reciprocate. Ignore the temptation to respond to the other driver; it could cause the situation to escalate. Don’t make eye contact.
8) Overtake from the right
India follows the right-hand drive. Hence, always remember to overtake from the right side.
9) Give way for emergency vehicles
As a driver, you must make way for emergency vehicles. You may, therefore, move your vehicle to the side in case an ambulance or a fire brigade was to cross.
