Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback to competitive cricket received another blow as he is all set to miss the IPL, according to ESPNCricinfo, as per TOI.
The Mumbai Indians pacer has not played international cricket since September 2022 and now has been given the choice to have back surgery.
There is also a chance that Bumrah may miss the WTC final, provided India qualify, on June 7.
Bumrah missed the T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh tour and the home series vs Sri Lanka and New Zealand. He was also not picked for the Tests or ODIs vs Australia.
The BCCI medical staff at the NCA is treating Bumrah’s case on priority and recommended he undergo surgery.
Bumrah had performed the match simulation exercises in the NCA, but discomfort returned due to higher workloads over the course of fitness drills in January.
Rohit Sharma wants Bumrah back only if fully fit and does not want to rush his return.
With the World Cup a little over 7 months away, it is not good news for the Men in Blue.
