Beating Serena Williams at the Australian Open will be difficult – Corretja

Former world No. 2 believes that has a lot of chances to win the Australian Open again. In an interview to Bola Marela, Corretja said: Beating Serenawill be very difficult, you have to play at a good level.

Aryna Sabalenka is one of the players you should look at, she is very strong; just like Naomi Osaka – after winning in New York you can play a great tournament in Australia as well. Corretja also added: best level is really, really high.

Its difficult for her to be consistent for many weeks a year, but when she plays at her best she is able to win a Grand Slam as it happened at the French Open and Wimbledon. She needs to regain confidence in her movement, shots, and I believe she will have a great year after a less good season in which she dropped some ranking positions.

For Corretja, a lot of surprising results can happen in Melbourne: Its a tournament on the other side of the world, very hot, players did not compete for a long time and they did not play a lot of tournaments prior to that.

Getting suited to the hot weather in Melbourne is the same for everyone. This is what makes the Australian Open a question mark. Serena delivered a brilliant performance to defeat the German Tatjana Maria in straight sets, 6-0 6-2, on Tuesday.

She will try to do even better against Eugenie Bouchard on Thursday. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
