Eddie Murphy takes surprise ride on ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’

“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” is revving up for its 11th season, and among its guests is someone surprising: Eddie Murphy.

The former “Saturday Night Live” and “Beverly Hills Cop” star has been reclusive in recent years, rarely doing interviews aside from a David Letterman appearance here and there.

But he’ll be on the new season of Jerry Seinfeld’s hit Netflix show, which involves chauffeuring his celeb pals around in various luxury cars, casually swapping stories and chatting about life.

The show is popular in part because of its candid nature, which is more relaxed than your average talk show. (That hasn’t stopped some offscreen drama from developing. Seinfeld was slapped with a lawsuit for allegedly auctioning off a bogus vintage Porsche that appeared on the show.)

Aside from Murphy, this season of Seinfeld’s show has a roster of guests including Seth Rogen, Ricky Gervais, Matthew Broderick, Jamie Foxx, Sebastian Maniscalco, Martin Short, Mario Joyner, Melissa Villaseñor, Bridget Everett and Barry Marder.

“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” returns to Netflix July 19.
