The bodies of a missing Oregon woman and her 3-year-old son were discovered in a wooded area over the weekend — weeks after the boy’s father was arrested in connection with their disappearance, according to a new report.
After searching for about two hours, investigators from multiple agencies found Karissa Fretwell, 25, and little Billy Fretwell in an area about 10 miles west of the city of Yamhill on Saturday, authorities told The Oregonian.

An autopsy on Sunday determined that Karissa died of a single gunshot wound and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the report. Her son’s cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.
The search for the pair began on May 17 when a relative found their apartment unlocked, the TV still on and Karissa’s bank card and glasses left behind — items that she’d normally never go without, according to the report. The two were last seen on May 13.
Billy’s father, Michael John Wolfe, 52, was arrested on May 24 on aggravated murder and kidnapping charges, but in interviews with cops has denied any involvement, the outlet reported.
A recent paternity test determined that Wolfe was Billy’s biological father — and he was ordered to pay $900 a month in child support, according to court documents. The boy was conceived during a fling the two had when they both worked at a McMinnville steel mill.
Fretwell learned that Wolfe was married after becoming pregnant, according to reports.
She was locked in a custody battle with Wolfe before she and her son were reported missing.
The boy’s babysitter told investigators that Fretwell had been threatened by Wolfe and his wife, who had said they wanted custody of Billy.
