In an interview to Blick, ahead of the Australian Open, commented on how her hand is basically two years after suffering an attack from a murderer at home in December 2016.
Kvitova underwent a surgery and she cameback to compete at the 2017 French Open. I have not pain. But I do not move it as in the past anymore. I will never get that back. On two hands, I do not have the same feeling, said Kvitova.
Speaking of what she did during her five-month break, the world No. 6 replied: I subscribed myself to the Prague University after the injury and I started studying. In order to have something else to do if I gave up with tennis.
In order to feel safe. But I am obviously happy to be in the sport again. Kvitova is the world number seven and she was even fourth after her injury, which was something unthinkable for her. I only wanted to comeback to the Tour, but not like this! I only wanted to compete with the best players.
If I reached just the top 100, I would have done a step back. Kvitova described her comeback from injury as her biggest win, even above 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon titles, her two Majors. Tag Heurer is one of her endorsmements.
Their brand is Do not Crack Under Pressure. I think its great. Because its about it, it does not matter what happens around. So I feel the same pressure as before to get good results. I dealt with it, which sonetimes bothers me.
Was it always like this? When I was younger, I felt free. But after her 2011 Wimbledon title, something changed: It was an enormous thing and I could not sustain such a pressure on my shoulders. Other players experience something similar.
Does she speak about it with them? This is a taboo topic. You cannot go to a player and tell her that you cry inside, she laughed. However, with former players thats possible. Is it okay for her to still speak about the incident of 2016? Of course.
Sometimes I also need it. Then I look back and I feel the emotions of that time. Sometimes I have to cry. Of course, I would want to forget them. But I will never be able to do it. The murderer was catched last spring and will stay in prison for 12 years.
Did it make things easier? I am happy they catched him. But the incident will always be inside myself. The following stage to the attack was hard. Time by time I looked around myself to see if the murderer was still there.
These flashbacks are not there anymore. But I do not feel well in a place that I do not know. After they injury, she shared a picture featuring her hand before and after the incident. Why? I wanted my fans to know what was happening.
I am happy the surgery went well. Asked about her chances to win the Australian Open, Kvitova replied: Chances are there. But there are 127 more players who also want to win (laughs). Seriously: in Australia I need some luck with the weather because of my ams.
If its hot and humid, I have some disadvantage. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
