How Isabella Rossellini stays gorgeous

Your skin is amazing. What’s your treatment routine?

I love Rénergie Yeux Multi-Glow eye cream. For me, the word “glow” stands for glamour and sophistication, which is what I seek more than just trying to look younger than my age. What’s the correct way to apply it? I tend to use too much, because it is so pleasant. The sufficient amount equals two grains of rice! The motion should be gentle and from the inside of the eye out. Also, the cream should be applied to the upper lids.

If you could use only one makeup product, what would it be?

Many years ago, I asked the best makeup artists to give me tips. I was told to emphasize the feature I like best. I know I have good lips, so I like to wear the very vibrant Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge red that has my name, Isabella, on it (No. 189).

You have a farm in Brookhaven Hamlet. What’s your favorite farm-to-table restaurant in the area?

I personally take care of the chickens and bees at my farm, and the organic vegetables are grown by Patty Gentry. She was a chef for 25 years, but now she supplies chefs, like Christian Mir at Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue. Christian has a portable oven that he often brings to my farm, so we can all have pizza with Patty’s delicious veggies. We also have lunches that the public can attend.

In your book, “My Chickens and I,” you describe your flock. What have you learned from them?

I started with 30 chickens five years ago. I recognized each one of them, and they have different personalities. Now I have circa 200 chickens, and I don’t recognize them all. Where do you like to shop on the South Shore? The best shop in Bellport (maybe anywhere in the world) is Copper Beech. It’s run by decorator Thomas O’Brien and his husband, Dan Fink, and has prepared foods and many beautiful things for the house: dishes, towels, blankets, old and new objects. I am tempted to buy all of them. The wool from the sheep at my farm is sold there, too.

Your touring show about animal behavior is called “Link Link Circus” and also stars your dog, Pan. Does she ever get stage fright?

She sleeps a lot, but when we arrive at the theater, she peps up, wags her tail and is ready to go. Sometimes we humans need to rehearse, but Pan seems to remember everything extremely well. We are all astounded by her capacities.
