Sam Darnold gets back on practice field, but that’s about it

Sam Darnold was back on the practice field Wednesday, but it did not look like the Jets quarterback would be able to do too much.

Darnold had a helmet on for the first time since the loss to the Dolphins on Nov. 4, when he sprained his right foot. But during the portion of practice open to the media, he was not participating in the light positional drills with fellow quarterbacks Josh McCown and Davis Webb.

The Jets were to release an official injury report later Wednesday afternoon. It is still unclear whether he will play Sunday against the Patriots or McCown will start for the second straight game.
