Serena Williams doesn't feel she has to be with Olympia every second- Coach

openly commented on her challenges of motherhood several times. The 23-time Major winner became mother of a daughter called Olympia in September 2017 and, although she reached two Grand Slam finals in 2018, she struggled to suit to the change.

In an interview to ESPN, Serenas coach said: She had to adapt to her new life, new things. She was feeling guilty for leaving her daughter for practice, to play matches, and she was not herself — you could see it.

I think shes back [mentally]. Also, her daughter is older; shes more independent because now shes walking, so now Serena doesnt feel she has to be there every second. Shes more relaxed, and I think this spirit she has is back.

Commenting furthermore on the mental challenges faced by Serena, Mouratoglou added: Anything can happen, but I think last year, she was not in a good space in terms of tennis and competition. Its difficult to understand how you feel when youre playing a Grand Slam final with history on the line.
