Jets linebacker: Bills tried to end my career with ‘dirty stuff’

ORCHARD PARK — Jets linebacker Jordan Jenkins won’t be sending any Christmas cards to the Bills.

Jenkins was very upset after the game that Bills tackle Dion Dawkins chop blocked him on the first play of the game.

“They did some dirty stuff and tried to end my career,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins said he was engaged with another offensive lineman when Dawkins dove at his legs. Dawkins was penalized on the play and Jenkins later left the game with an ankle injury, although he was able to return.

“I told him, ‘If you do that again, I’ll kill you,’ ” Jenkins said. “I was enraged at the time. That’s a career-ender. You’re trying to mess up my life by doing that. That’s classless. You don’t dive at somebody’s ankle when they’re engaged with somebody. That’s not real football. That’s some punk-type stuff.”

Jenkins was also not happy with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who he said talked too much on the field.

“He was feeling himself,” Jenkins said. “He was talking trash out there today.”

Jenkins was penalized for unnecessary roughness after hitting Allen on a play when the Bills did a direct snap to another player.

“He came to block me,” Jenkins said. “They went quick snap. All I see is somebody running at me and they didn’t say anything. They just kept walking. I was like what is the call? He came and hit me. How are you going to call that on me? Not one ref said anything. I don’t even know what the call was.”

The Jets were without LB Darron Lee, who began serving his four-game suspension for violating the league’s drug policy.

“Again, great disappointment,” Jets coach Todd Bowles said. “I’m very close with Darron. He’s very close with a lot of guys on the team. He made a big mistake and only time will tell whether he will learn from it or not. We missed him, but we had guys step in today and play ball and we’ve got to keep moving.”

Bowles said the Jets did not learn of Lee’s suspension until Thursday and they had a day and a half to get Neville Hewitt and Kevin Pierre-Louis ready to replace him. The duo did some good things. Hewitt had a half of a sack and seven tackles. Pierre-Louis forced a fumble, had a sack and three tackles.

RB Isaiah Crowell injured his foot in the first quarter and did not return. Bowles said he will undergo tests Monday.

The game-winning touchdown for the Jets was their first on a fourth down in the final two minutes of a game since 1998 when QB Vinny Testaverde scored with 27 seconds left against the Seahawks in a 32-31 win — the famous phantom touchdown game.
